It’s fun to make new friends. I’ve known RJ Kern for a couple of years, but only in passing. Recently, I offered to help him knock off a couple of his 101 goals in 1001 days, and he mentioned an educational vintage shoot he was putting together. Would I be interested in helping? I said I loved the style he was looking at and asked, “You knew I was a costume design major, right?” He replied, “You’re like my soul sister!!!” There would be a shortage of exclamation points in the world if I ever quoted RJ with the correct amount of enthusiasm.

And, as like follows like, RJ’s friends are pretty swell people too. All the participants in this portrait shoot were wonderful to work with. Even when the inevitable stress appeared, everyone took it in stride and pitched in. What more could you ask for?

Oh yeah, fabulous vintage pictures and a fun video explaining our process. But for me, that final output is secondary to the experience itself. If collaboration is a dance, it’s nice to feel like everyone’s in rhythm.

We are so excited to have one of our very beautiful weddings featured in the spring/summer issue of The Knot magazine. Alanna and Dan’s wedding at the Villa Parker was part of a Alice 105.9 wedding contest. DJ’s, Slacker and Steve picked them out of hundreds of applications. Alanna’s bright and exciting personality showed through in her color choices for the day – bright orange and olive greens.

Last May Jeanine and Charles had a lovely, romantic wedding at the Botanic Gardens and reception at Palette’s restaurant in the Denver Art Museum. This week their wedding is featured on COUTUREColorado’s web site. When Anne and Henning (wedding photos soon!) invited us to watch her brother perform last Friday night we had no idea of the treat we were in for. All she told us was he was playing the guitar at a local coffee shop. There were several bits of information she left out — like Rob’s a very talented and well established performer here in Denver or that her dad would be playing as well. Mostly, she failed to mention Rob’s incredibly fun hair.

It turns out these Friday night events at The Rocky Mountain Roastery in Fraser, Colorado are very popular. The performance started at 7:00, when we got there at 7:10 it was all ready standing room only. Rob, cellist Leslie Michaels were the main entertainment for the evening. But Harry Drabkin (Anne and Rob’s father) joined in on the saxophone making it an family event honoring the wedding couple. The music was amazing and we were honored to be included in the festivities.

We’ve put the highlights from the evening on a slide show along with one of Rob’s songs for you to enjoy.

In August 2007 Amanda had the good fortune to photograph the very beautiful wedding of Emily Cooper and Erik Whaley at their friends home in Greenwood Village. Emily had every little detail covered so perfectly — from the escort cards to the cake (In fact, Amanda loved the cake so much she had it copied in different colors for her own wedding!)

When The Knot sent out their request for photos there was no doubt in our mind who’s wedding photos we would send them. The Knot is all about the details when they are choosing a wedding for a magazine layout, so it came as no surprise to us when we received the news that Emily and Erik’s wedding was being published. Emily and Erik are such a wonderful couple (you must read how he proposed) that having their wedding published will be a wonderful keepsake of their special day.
