Thomas at 10 Days Old

We’ve gotten very far behind on our blog. Seems life, the flu and a host of other out of our normal day to day experiences had gotten the best of us. But all things have just about come full circle and we are now getting back on track. So to show you just one of the wonderful photography opportunities we’ve had lately – I give you Thomas at 10 days old. Thomas is adorable with massive amounts of hair and the most wonderful parents to grow up with. We look forward to watching Thomas grow into a handsome toddler. We can only imagine the joy he will bring his family,

Jack and Grandma

I had one quick minute to finally sit down and go through photos from our shoot with little Jack and his family. I love “moments” photos. Jack’s grandma clearly adores him and you can see how much in this moment.

More later….  but I really wanted to post this sweet, sweet photo.

Allison and Mario welcome Lilly

Sometimes you have clients that you really enjoy, not just have a good time working with but think – Wow these are really great people. Mario and Allison are that kind of clients. We shot Mario and Allison’s wedding a couple years ago. It was a very windy but wonderful day. Mario teared up when he saw Allison walk down the aisle (which made me tear up) she smiled at him constantly, together they were gracious and thoughtful hosts to their guest. Wonderful people!

Fast forward to a couple months ago – we get a call from Allison saying she’s pregnant and wanting maternity photos. We were really looking forward to seeing them again but the day arrives and the weather stinks – one of our wet spring storms Colorado is famous for. We’d hoped to do the shoot at Red Rocks so we postponed it. A couple weeks later, the weather has improved so Amanda called Mario to reschedule. Only to find Mario and Allison at the hospital  – little miss Lilly had all ready arrived!

So… no maternity photos but plenty of baby photos!

Mario had several suggestions of things to try. They have a mirror over their dining room table he wanted to try reflection photos with but their coffee table provided us with much more space to lay Lilly on. Plus, I could get mom and dad’s reflection in the photo as well.© Kokoro Photography

Allison wanted photos on their bed. I loved the idea, the color on the walls is beautiful and the contrast with the yellow curtains, but the photos were just average. So I asked them to get into the bed with Lilly…

and this is what we ended up with…. amazing family photos!

Grace and Fischer

Meet Grace and her horse, Fischer. Fischer is a 5 year old paint who just reaches above “pony” status in height. Together they are a great pair. Each is learning to be patient which is not easy for either of them. Fischer is a dorky teenage boy, can’t wait for his food but is scared of shadows. Grace is a typical teenage girl, plugged into either her cell phone or the ipod.  She is training him to be a great horse and he is training her to be a responsible young lady.  It’s win-win for everyone.

Post-Engagement Session in Boulder Colorado

What do you do when you absolutely hate the way your engagement photos turned out? Have them redone – even if it’s after your wedding! Katie and Bart really disliked their original photographers work “way to much photoshop” was the description they gave us. Katie had seen photos we’d done for a blog acquaintance a couple years ago and loved them. She decide that if they were ever in Denver she wanted photos with us to replace the original engagement photos. Last week when they were in town they booked a session with us to do a post-engagement photos in Boulder. Lucky for us!

Katie and Bart are a wonderful couple and so willing to do anything we asked them. Katie even added some of her own spice to the session ;-) We had such a good time with them and hope these will make up for the last engagement photos.

Good luck to you two in Seattle. It was a joy meeting you!
